Bread Sauce with Cream

1. 125 g (4 oz) breadcrumbs.                                                       5. 30 g (1 oz) butter.
2. 1 small onion.                                                                          6. 3 tablespoons cream.
3. Blade of mace.                                                                        7. 300 ml (1/2 pint) water.
4. 3 cloves.


    Stick cloves into onion. Cook onion, mace and pepper in the water. Strain this seasoned water over the breadcrumbs; cover and just before serving add butter and cream.
